MÖTLEY CRÜE's MICK MARS: 'I'm In For The Long Haul'
February 23, 2005Launch Radio Networks reports: The other members of MÖTLEY CRÜE have been telling everybody that, despite his recent hip replacement surgery, guitarist Mick Mars is fit and ready to rock. Now Mars has stepped forward and told Launch they weren't lying. "I'm great. I'm great," he said. "I'm out here doing it, working it. I'm good. I let people think what they want and it doesn't bother me. I know what I'm doing. I know that I'm healthy, and I know I'm in. I'm in for the long haul."
Mars, whose real name is Bob Deal, underwent his surgery in October. He still suffers from a chronic degenerative illness called ankylosing spondylitis, which fuses together the joints and bones of the spine. He told Launch he's been talking to medical specialists in Germany about the problem.
The maladies led to rumors that Mars would not be able to take part in MÖTLEY CRÜE's current"Red, White & Crüe" reunion tour. Some reports suggested he would be replaced by JANE'S ADDICTION and RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS veteran Dave Navarro.
MÖTLEY CRÜE performs tonight at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
The band will be the featured guests on ABC-TV's "Live with Regis And Kelly" on Thursday, March 3, at 9:00 a.m. The group plays at New York's Madison Square Garden that night.
One day earlier, on March 2, the CRÜE will ring the New York Stock Exchange's closing bell at 4:00 p.m.
